Evergreen Moon

There is not a lot of emotional meaning behind this painting. I decided I wanted to do another painting of nature. You will notice that space and astronomy are common themes for me. I like the idea of space. I think it is something that can be very insightful for human beings.

What is the purpose of all that space out there? If there is no purpose, what does this tell us about religion and the meaning of our lives?

Painting the moon and attempting to capture its beauty and color while retaining a sense of realism was extremely difficult. There are many layers of color under the moon in order to get the sense of sand and impacts that one can see when looking at the moon on a clear night. The moon is the central focus of the painting and the only aspect of it that I want the viewer to focus on, which is why the background and foreground are somewhat generic. The sky is more interesting to me than the treeline, which is why the colors present here are more interesting.

I hope you enjoy this work,
jason
